📌 Program Overview

The FAO Internship Program gives students and recent graduates the chance to work on FAO's global efforts to fight hunger, enhance farming, and support sustainable development. Interns work in FAO offices worldwide, including the headquarters in Rome and country offices.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet ALL of the following:

  • Education Status: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program at a recognized university OR graduated within the last 12 months
  • Field of Study: Related to FAO's work (agriculture, food security, environmental science, economics, computer science, international development, etc.)
  • Language Skills: Working knowledge (Level B2+) of at least one FAO official language (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian)
  • Age Limit: 21-30 years old at application time
  • Nationality: Citizen of an FAO member country
  • Exclusion: Applicants with close relatives (parents, siblings) working at FAO cannot apply

  • Monthly stipend: Up to $700 (or local equivalent) if not sponsored
  • Medical insurance: Provided for internship duration

📅 Internship Duration & Locations

  • Duration: 3 to 11 months (extendable based on performance)
  • Locations:
    • FAO Headquarters (Rome, Italy)
    • FAO Country Offices (Kenya, Nigeria, Brazil, India, etc.)
    • Remote/Hybrid options (case-dependent)
