Scholarship Overview

The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship offers comprehensive support for international students living outside Japan who plan to attend graduate school at APU. The scholarship covers:

• Full tuition fees
• Monthly living allowance of 140,000 JPY for two years (Masters and PhD students)
• Economy class airfare and travel-related expenses up to 250,000 JPY

Eligibility Requirements

• Non-Japanese citizenship (including dual nationals)
• Residing outside Japan before the program starts
• Total stay in Japan not exceeding 31 days (exceptions for family-related stays before completing education or participation in the Rotary Youth Exchange high school program)
• Japanese language proficiency at JLPT N4 level or higher
• Born on or after April 2, 1980
• Not a previous Rotary Yoneyama Scholar
• Must obtain a student visa for Japan

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply for the 2026 APU Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship:

1. Request consideration for the scholarship through the APU Online Application System.
2. Submit your application to the Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship Organization by October 20, 2025, for an April 2026 start.
3. Notify the scholarship organization that APU will send a Letter of Recommendation after the application deadline.
4. Once admissions results are released, APU will provide the Letter of Recommendation to selected candidates.
5. Submit the Letter of Recommendation to the scholarship organization.
