The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) TVET Industry Mapping Initiative 2025 helps Nigerian technical students get the skills they need by connecting them with firms and paying for their training and monthly stipends

This program started in August 2025 and combines hands-on learning through the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and the Student Field Work Experience Scheme (SFWES) to make technical education more relevant to the needs of businesses

The program connects what students learn in the classroom with what they can do in the real world which helps with youth unemployment and skills mismatch

Students get real-world experience learn professional skills and make connections in their field Businesses on the other hand get free training fees from the government and a steady stream of trained workers

The initiative will support 18 current trade courses in 2025 and add 14 new ones in 2026 and 2027

Who Can Apply

Students

  • In a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program
  • Taking part in SIWES or SFWES
  • Enrolled in one of the 18 trade courses that are currently available or the 14 that will be available soon
  • There are no special academic requirements other than being enrolled in TVET

Businesses

  • Small-scale Small production companies
  • Medium-scale Companies that are getting bigger and have a decent number of employees
  • Large-scale Companies that use cutting-edge technology and make things in large quantities
