YYGS 2026 Requirements for Eligibility

To be considered for Yale Young Global Scholars, applicants must fulfill the subsequent requirements:

• Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old at the start of the program in July 2026
• Grade Level: You are now a sophomore or junior in high school (or the equivalent in another country)
• English Proficiency: Non-native speakers must be very good at English
• Academic Standing: Great grades in high school
• Citizenship: Students from all over the world are welcome
• First-Time Participation: You can't have taken part in YYGS before
• Maturity: Showed maturity and the capacity to do well in a residential situation
• Interest Areas: You are really interested in one or more of the YYGS academic tracks

How to Sign Up for YYGS 2026

To apply for Yale Young Global Scholars, please complete these steps:

1. Step 1: Check to see whether you qualify and pick a track
   • Make sure you meet all age and grade requirements
   • Look into the many program tracks that are available
   • Choose the track and session dates you like
   • Choose backup track options

2. Step 2: Get the Necessary Papers Ready

   For your application, you will need to get the following documents:

   • An unofficial high school transcript
   • A current resume or list of activities
   • Two letters of recommendation (one from a teacher and one optional)
   • Financial assistance documentation (if you're applying for aid)
   • A copy of your passport (for international students)
3. Step 3: Fill out the online application
   • Go to theYYGS Application Portal
   • Make an account and fill out all the parts:
     • Personal information
     • Academic history
     • Extracurricular activities
     • Short answer responses
     • Essay responses
4. Step 4: Write Essays for Your Application
   • 400-word essay: Tell us why you are interested in the track you choose
   • Responses of 200 words: Respond to two short-answer questions
