Agri Evolve Uganda Ltd which started out as Rwenzori Coffee Co in 2016 is a social business that makes money for a good cause Its main office is in Kisinga Kasese District Uganda but it also has operations in the UK to export green coffee beans Jonny Rowland and James Wilkinson started the company because they wanted to help smallholder farmers in the Rwenzori Mountains It helps local coffee producers deal with the problems of low market pricing and poor processing facilities
Jonny Rowland is the Managing Director of Agri Evolve He works with Beth Rowland (Director of Impact Strategies) and Martin Rowland (UK-based export lead) The company has more than 80 employees including agronomists field officers technicians and quality control experts
The business buys raw coffee cherries at fair prices uses the money it makes from exports to train farmers provide them equipment and improve the quality of the coffee by running a washing facility Agri Evolve has made a bigger difference in western Uganda by working with partners like Omwani and supporting programs like ACE2030 to promote sustainable farming techniques and enhance people's lives in the area
