About the Organisation
The Uganda Police Force (UPF), headed by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Maj Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime, is the national police force responsible for maintaining law, order, and public safety. Established in 1906 as the Uganda Armed Constabulary by the British government to suppress riots and disorder, the UPF has evolved into a modern force under the leadership of IGP Abbas Byakagaba, who assumed office on May 18, 2024.

Job Summary
The Uganda Police Force (UPF) is recruiting 100,000 Election Special Police Constables to maintain peace, law, and order during the 2025 general elections. This 3-month national service contract offers Ugandan residents an opportunity to contribute to the democratic process while earning a competitive monthly salary.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Maintain peace, law, and order during the elections
- Protect election officials, ballot boxes, and polling materials
- Assist the UPF in crowd control, voter protection, and polling station monitoring
- Report any violence, misconduct, or disruptions during the election process
- Follow lawful instructions from the UPF and other authorities
- Participate in community awareness and sensitization campaigns for peaceful elections
- Ensure safety of persons and property in assigned areas
- Complete the mandatory one-month Basic Security Training Course
- Perform other lawful duties assigned by supervising police officers
Qualifications, Education, and Competencies
- Citizenship of Uganda with a valid National Identity Card
- At least Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) result slip
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Good character with no criminal background
- Previous volunteer experience with UPF (advantageous)
- Physical fitness to work in demanding conditions
- Strong communication skills
- Patriotism and willingness to serve the community
- Eligibility to vote in the recruitment district
- Willingness to undergo one-month Basic Security Training Course
- Not a current member of any armed forces

- Photocopies of school certificates
- Copy of National Identity Card
- One (1) recent passport-size photograph
- Letters of recommendation from LCI, LCIII, and GISO (from the district of application)
