Job Summary
The Business Development Manager at CHINT Uganda will manage the company’s brands, pursue new business opportunities, and enhance visibility through effective marketing, communications, and public relations campaigns. This strategic role requires an entrepreneurial leader with exceptional organizational skills to drive profitable and sustainable business growth.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
Business Opportunity Identification and Pursuit
- Conduct market research and analysis on current and potential products or services
- Prepare comprehensive reports on market trends, economic factors, and competitor activities
- Generate leads through networking, events, and digital channels
- Develop and execute marketing materials, corporate branding strategies, and content
- Assist enterprises with expansion by identifying optimal business locations and providing strategic advice to management
Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients
- Serve as the primary point of contact to understand client needs and offer tailored solutions
- Ensure high client satisfaction to foster repeat business and referrals
Growth Strategy Development and Implementation
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and product teams to align on growth objectives
- Prepare proposals, pitch decks, and negotiate deals or partnerships
- Monitor KPIs, assess performance, and adjust strategies for continuous improvement
Sales Channel and Market Expansion
- Identify and engage new B2B and B2C clients, including developers, interior designers, hospitality companies, and retailers
- Explore new and underserved markets to expand the product portfolio
- Collaborate with online platforms, showrooms, and distributors to increase product visibility
Strategic Partnerships
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and luxury home builders for project integration
- Partner with smart home integrators and electrical contractors to promote packaged solutions (e.g., furniture and lighting)
- Negotiate with vendors and resellers to ensure equitable contracts
Product Offering Alignment with Customer Needs
- Analyze customer preferences, design trends, and emerging technologies
- Provide feedback to marketing and product teams to align offerings with market demands
- Lead new product launches and seasonal collections aligned with current trends
Public Relations Activities
- Manage internal and external public relations to enhance the company’s image
- Advise management on communication strategies and media relations
- Plan press releases, interviews, and corporate communications
Business Development and Marketing Department Leadership
- Oversee departmental finances and lead the marketing team
- Manage digital marketing, branding, eCommerce, and campaign execution
- Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on business development initiatives on time
- Recommend improvements for ongoing and future projects
Qualifications, Education, and Skills
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Media, Communications, or Journalism (preferred)
- Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) certification is an advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Media, Communications, or Journalism
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a senior role in a related field
- Proven experience in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication plans
- Strong understanding of social media, digital marketing, and branding
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Strategic thinker with creativity, attention to detail, and strong project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business technologies
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure
