About the Organisation
The Regional Service Centre in Entebbe (RSCE), established in July 2010 by UN General Assembly resolution 64/269, is a shared service centre providing efficient, client-focused, and scalable services to UN entities, including peacekeeping operations, regional commissions, and non-headquarters offices.
RSCE handles transactional, non-location-dependent administrative tasks in areas such as human resources, finance, multimodal movement and control, personnel and freight transport, and information and communications technology (ICT) support.
Position Summary
The Data Analytics Intern at UNRSCE will work directly with the Chief of the Quality Assurance and Business Intelligence Unit (QABI) and a team dedicated to enhancing data-driven decision-making across the Centre. The intern will contribute to custom solutions based on client needs, data mining, analytics, visualization, and performance reporting to support operational and strategic choices. The role involves documenting processes, creating job aids, and sharing insights to improve services.
Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the QABI team to gather requirements from internal clients and implement custom solutions
- Conduct data mining to transform raw data into actionable insights for operational and strategic decisions
- Develop data analytics, visualizations, and performance reports to inform management and operational improvements
- Utilize established templates to document QABI processes and solutions, such as creating job aids and user guides
- Perform other tasks as assigned to support the QABI unit’s objectives
Job Requirements
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a university degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, or a related discipline
- Enrollment in a graduate-level program is desirable
Experience
- Previous experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related fields is an added advantage
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is desirable
- Experience in a UN or international organisation setting is an added advantage
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Knowledge of data mining, analytics, and visualization tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to the UN core values: integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity
