Job Summary

The Driver will be in charge of safely quickly and on schedule transporting hospital workers patients supplies and equipment This job is very important for helping the hospital run smoothly every day and in an emergency The best person for the job will be responsible on time and have a strong sense of obligation

Main Duties
  • Safely drive and operate hospital vehicles (ambulances staff buses utility trucks) as needed for official business such as moving personnel patients medical supplies and other hospital items
  • Check the oil water brakes tires and other parts every day before and after a journey Make sure the car is always clean full of gas and ready to go Make little adjustments to the machinery and tell your boss right away about any serious problems or accidents
  • Keep accurate vehicle logbooks that show all trips mileage fuel use and maintenance work according to hospital policy
  • Make sure the car is parked and kept safely when not in use Follow all of the hospital's and the country's traffic rules Take all possible precaution to protect the safety of people and products
  • Be ready to answer emergency calls even after hours and show that you can stay calm and competent under pressure
  • Treat all passengers patients and coworkers with respect and professionalism
  • Carry out any other legal tasks that the supervisor gives you which could include helping with loading and unloading and running small errands
Academic Requirements
Requirement
Passed the English Language part of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE)
A valid Ugandan Driving Permit (Class CM or DL for light vehicles Class CH or DM for trucks and ambulances)
A valid Defensive Driving Certificate from a well-known school
Skills and Experience
  • At least two years of driving experience with a well-known organization NGO or government agency is preferred Having driven an ambulance or worked in a healthcare setting before is a big plus
  • Great driving skills A perfect driving record and a thorough knowledge of Ugandan roads and traffic laws
  • Basic knowledge of how vehicles work so you can find problems and do simple repairs and troubleshooting
  • Dependability and punctuality Must be very reliable and always be on time
  • Integrity Being honest and trustworthy to a high degree
  • Physical fitness You need to be in good shape to load and unload and drive for a long time
  • Communication You need to be able to speak and write well in English and any other local languages that are important
  • Stress management The ability to be calm and make good choices in an emergency
