Project Overview

The Investment for Industrial Transformation and Employment (INVITE) project, funded by the International Development Association and a Multi-Donor Trust Fund, aims to mitigate COVID-19 impacts on private sector jobs and investments, and create economic opportunities in refugee and host communities. The project, implemented by PSFU and the Bank of Uganda, includes four components: mitigating COVID-19 impacts, creating new products and assets, enhancing institutional and firm capabilities, and supporting implementation and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Establish baseline data for project interventions.
  • Conduct economic analysis of project interventions.
  • Develop and implement tests and data-driven products related to socio-economic well-being in refugee and host communities.
  • Manage partnerships and activities for collecting comparable socio-economic data.
  • Produce tailored analytical reports to support project managers’ decision-making.
  • Support capacity building for partners and beneficiaries.
  • Collaborate with advisors to guide beneficiary businesses on export regulations and processes.
  • Assist exporters in developing and monitoring export plans with the International Market and Export Advisory Service.
  • Conduct evaluations and reviews to select eligible businesses for Exporting Firms Support (EFS).
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

RequirementDetails
EducationHonors Master’s degree in Economics; Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Quantitative Economics, or Econometrics
ExperienceMinimum 6 years of proven experience in economic analysis
Technical ExpertiseExperience in modeling and applied development economics
Institutional KnowledgeFamiliarity with World Bank, international financial institutions, or bilateral development agencies
Data SkillsExperience guiding primary data collection and analysis; proficiency with large datasets and statistical software
Private Sector ExperiencePrior work with the commercial sector
Analytical SkillsStrong analytical capabilities
Economic KnowledgeDeep understanding of Uganda’s micro- and macroeconomic issues
CommunicationStrong interpersonal and communication skills
CollaborationAbility to work with diverse teams and build partnerships
EthicsProven integrity, confidentiality, and adaptability
IndependenceAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while delivering high-quality work

Work Environment

  • Duty Station: INVITE-PIU Office in Kampala, with provided office space, internet, printer, and facilities.
