The job's main goal is to make sure that the IC Uganda Office's financial processes run smoothly and to help the rest of the Finance team and the different projects as needed to make sure that financial matters are recorded and reported correctly for both internal use and for donors

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing Money:
Make sure that all of the IC Uganda Office's processes are fully documented and follow IC Accounting and other regulations and that the records are kept and filed correctly
Make sure that the staff at ICF Uganda knows and follows the ICF accounting rules and regulations
Make sure that all financial records such as the general ledger accounts payable and receivable payroll and other financial systems are correct and comprehensive
Oversee the closure procedures at the end of each month and year as well as the production of monthly and annual management reports including project reports for project managers in the ICT Uganda Office
Go over management reports with the ICF Uganda Manager and the ICF East Africa Regional Director
Check the monthly trial balance and make sure that all of the balance sheet accounts are in agreement with each other
Check and if necessary prepare regular and non-regular adjusting and allocating journals
Handle creditors and obligation accounting which includes managing documenting and uploading accounting data into the system
Make sure that payees and payments are loaded into the IC Uganda online banking system
Handle the accounting for debtors which includes staff advances staff credit cards uploading accounting data into the accounting system and if necessary making bills and following up
Planning Budgeting and Reporting:
Work with the ICF Uganda Manager and the ICF East Africa Regional Director to develop yearly budgets for ICF Uganda and the ICF East Africa Regional Office with help from the complete ICF Uganda team
Make budgets for proposals to donors with help from the ICF Uganda Manager the ICF East Africa Regional Director and the complete ICF Uganda team
Make sure that donor financial reports follow the rules set by the grant or contract
Managing Assets and Buying Things:
Follow ICF policy while managing ICF Uganda's vehicle fleet and other assets This includes keeping an asset register getting licenses and insurance handling fines and installing tracking units
Handle ICF Uganda's cash flow and finish the quarterly funds drawdown request from ICF US HQ
Follow ICF policies and processes to manage ICF Uganda's purchases so that they are open accountable and worth the money
Legal and Regulatory Issues:
Make sure that any required payments and deductions such as national health insurance payments national pension payments national tax payments and any other payments or deductions that may come due are completed on time
Keep an eye on what the government says about changing NGO reporting and compliance issues so you know what you need to do
Be in charge of getting ready for and running IC Uganda's yearly financial audit
General Finance and Administration:
Lead and coach the other members of the IC Uganda Finance team
Take care of the IC Uganda staff medical plan and make sure it is always up to date
Answer questions about money from people inside and outside the company by collecting analyzing summarizing and interpreting data
Be a part of and help out with the IC Africa Finance Team
Responsibilities that the organization gives you from time to time as needed
Required Skills and Qualities:
A bachelor's degree in accounting finance or a related profession
Must have passed the ACCA or CPA exam
At least five years of experience in a similar role with an international NGO
A deep understanding of or skill with a well-known accounting package
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs such as Word and Excel
Great at analyzing solving problems and making decisions
Very good at paying attention to details and being thorough
Have managed junior finance personnel before and done a good job
Good at talking to and getting along with others
Able to manage their time well
Able to speak and write English well
The ability to clearly convey financial information to people who don't work in finance
Ability to keep private information safe
Agree with the values of the International Crane Foundation
