Position Overview

Food for the Hungry (FH) is seeking a Gender & SBCC Specialist to integrate gender equality social inclusion and behavior change communication across its programs in Uganda.

 This role focuses on ensuring projects are gender-responsive and socially inclusive addressing harmful norms affecting women youth and vulnerable groups The specialist will also lead FH Uganda’s safeguarding initiatives developing systems to protect children and adults from exploitation and abuse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical support on gender social inclusion and SBCC
  • Ensure program quality and lead safeguarding initiatives
  • Build staff capacity and mentor teams on gender and safeguarding issues
  • Drive research learning and advocacy on gender and behavior change
  • Foster partnerships with government civil society and donors

Qualifications and Competencies

EducationMaster’s degree in Gender Studies Development Studies Public Health Social Sciences or a related field
ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in gender equality SBCC or safeguarding within INGOs or development contexts
Program ExperienceProven experience designing and implementing gender-transformative and SBCC programs
SafeguardingExperience leading safeguarding initiatives in humanitarian and development settings
Technical SkillsStrong understanding of gender mainstreaming frameworks safeguarding standards and participatory SBCC methodologies
CompetenciesExcellent facilitation training and capacity-building skills Strong analytical report writing problem-solving and communication abilities
