Position Overview

Food for the Hungry (FH) is seeking a Humanitarian & WASH Technical Specialist to provide expert technical leadership in the design implementation and evaluation of WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) and infrastructure programs.

 This role focuses on ensuring FH Uganda’s WASH initiatives are innovative evidence-based and aligned with national and international standards while strengthening community engagement and partnerships for sustainable impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and quality assurance for WASH and infrastructure projects in development and emergency contexts
  • Lead program development monitoring reporting and learning activities
  • Coordinate with stakeholders represent FH in relevant forums and advocate for WASH priorities
  • Strengthen the capacity of staff and partners through training and mentorship

Qualifications and Competencies

EducationMaster’s degree in Water Resources Engineering Civil/Environmental Engineering Public Health Engineering or a related field
Experience5–7 years of progressive experience in Humanitarian and WASH programming with at least 3 years in a technical specialist role
Program ExperienceProven track record managing large-scale WASH and infrastructure projects in both development and emergency settings
Technical KnowledgeStrong knowledge of WASH sector standards government policies and donor compliance (USAID EU UN agencies World Bank)
Technical SkillsProficiency in AutoCAD GIS and other relevant technical software
Funding SkillsExperience in proposal writing donor engagement and resource mobilization
