Description

The Head of General Insurance is in charge of the General Insurance business unit and gives it strategic direction.

The person in this post is in charge of making sure that general insurance staff and products are underwritten and managed in a way that leads to long-term growth profitability compliance and excellent service.

Main Duties

  • Business growth and strategic leadership
  • Make and carry out strategic plans for the general insurance business unit
  • Lead efforts to grow the business and enter new markets in a sustainable way
  • Set goals for performance and make sure that company goals are met
  • Keep an eye on what's going on in your sector and change your business plans as needed
  • Operations and underwriting
  • Make sure that all underwriting operations are done correctly and that risks are assessed properly
  • Handle claims processing and settlement procedures
  • Improve and develop general insurance products and services
  • Make sure that operational processes and service delivery are efficient
  • Managing sales marketing and client relationships
  • Create and carry out plans for sales and marketing
  • Build and keep great relationships with clients
  • Find new ways to distribute products and form partnerships
  • Make sure customers are happy and stay with you
  • People and Culture
  • Lead mentor and help the general insurance team grow
  • Create a culture of high performance in the department
  • Oversee the team's performance and professional growth
  • Encourage good morals and values at work
  • Governance Risk and Compliance
  • Make sure that company policies and rules are followed
  • Set up good risk management systems
  • Keep high standards of corporate governance
  • Make sure that underwriting criteria and standards are followed

Academic Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in finance business insurance actuarial science or a related sector
  • A professional certification like DIU CII COP or something similar

Experience and Qualifications

  • Important Requirements
  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in general insurance with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity
  • You should have a strong understanding of underwriting claims administration product development and distribution
  • You should also have a history of growing businesses making them profitable and leading teams
  • Qualifications that are good
  • A master's degree or an MBA
  • Other professional certifications in risk management or insurance
