Job Summary
The Intern – Programmes role at the British Council in Kampala offers a highly motivated beginner or recent graduate an opportunity to develop essential work skills in a dynamic organisational setting.
The intern will support the planning and delivery of British Council Uganda’s programs in education, arts, English, and higher education, aligning with strategic goals. This internship provides practical experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and administrative tasks, fostering professional growth and laying a strong foundation for a career in program delivery.
Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities
Program Delivery Support
- Assist program managers in designing and implementing British Council Uganda programs in schools, arts, English, and higher education
- Support event, workshop, and webinar planning (both online and in-person), including logistics, participant coordination, and material preparation
- Track program activity plans and outputs, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date
- Assist in organizing and executing program activities, such as Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives
Monitoring, Evaluation, Communication, and Reporting
- Support data collection from partners and beneficiaries
- Assist in preparing reports, case studies, and success stories for donors and stakeholders
- Document lessons learned from program implementation
Stakeholder and Partner Engagement
- Facilitate communication with partners, consultants, and vendors
- Assist in preparing updates, newsletters, and other stakeholder communications
- Support the preparation of briefing materials for stakeholder meetings
Finance and Procurement Support
- Assist with processing purchase requests and financial documentation
- Maintain digital filing systems for program and financial records
- Support budget tracking and cash flow forecasting under supervision
