About the Job

ZOA Ugan.The Land Cartographer will work with local authorities to help with land demarcation digital data gathering and the registration of Certificates of Customary Ownership (CCOs)

Main Duties

  • Help land demarcation teams like Area Land Committees with their work
  • Teach and coach land demarcation teams how to use digital tools to mark land
  • Give statistical reports and information about demarcation activities such as conflicts mapped parcels and applications received
  • Work with Land Offices to send in land application files and make CCOs in both paper and digital formats
  • Teach office workers how to use QGIS to digitize land application files and make prints for file attachments
  • Keep the QGIS database systems digital land files up to date
  • Work with the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development and other interested parties to collect land data and provide technical support
  • Be the main person in charge of collecting digital land data for the program
  • Go at land-related meetings at the sub-county district and national levels
  • Make sure that stakeholders know about ways to give input and file complaints and that complaints are properly documented

Qualifications and Requirements

Academic QualificationDescription
Diploma or DegreeA diploma or degree in cartography or a similar profession
  • Proven experience in marking out land registering it and collecting digital data
  • Knowledge with QGIS and Excel
  • Good at getting people in the community to work together and helping them do it
  • Very good at speaking and writing English
  • Must be able to ride a motorcycle (must have a valid permission)
  • Willing to live and work in the Busoga Lira or Rwenzori areas
  • Following ZOAs Christian beliefs and identity
  • Creative focused on results and able to work with little supervision
  • Knowing the local languages in the areas where the project is being carried out is a plus
