Project Context

The BRIDGE Project, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, CEFORD, ELECU, and refugee-led community groups, runs from 2022 to 2026 to enhance secondary education, skills development, and employment for youth in Uganda’s refugee and host communities. Operating in Adjumani, Obongi, Isingiro, Kamwenge, Kikuube, Yumbe, Arua, and Koboko, the project focuses on education access, teacher and school strengthening, and job placement through training, mentoring, and business incubation.

Job Summary

The Project Assistant – TVET will support the Senior Project Officer – TVET in implementing BRIDGE Project activities in southwestern Uganda (Kikuube and Isingiro). The role involves providing operational and technical support, managing partner relationships, coordinating field activities, and assisting with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of work plans, budgets, and project activities
  • Coordinate TVET scholarship programs at the field level
  • Engage youth, women, families, and stakeholders in project activities
  • Facilitate training sessions and capacity-building for youth groups, mentors, and community members
  • Monitor TVET program implementation, including club activities and budget expenditure
  • Assist with monitoring and evaluation tasks, including data collection, database management, and report preparation
  • Build and maintain relationships with government and TVET stakeholders
  • Document lessons learned, innovations, and best practices for replication

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Studies, Technical Education, or a related field
  • Postgraduate degree in TVET or a related field is an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in higher education, teacher development, TVET, or education programs
  • Strong understanding of Uganda’s TVET and vocational training policies
  • Key Skills:
    • Excellent project management, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting skills
    • Proficiency in IT and common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, collaboration tools)
    • Integrity, reliability, and commitment to quality
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
    • Strong collaboration and stress management skills
    • Political and cultural awareness, patience, and diplomacy
    • Creativity and flexibility
