About Backup Uganda & Project
Since 2016, Backup Uganda has championed inclusive education across Northern Uganda. The Every Child Can Learn project (2026–2028) will transform 30 primary schools in Omoro, Kitgum, and Nwoya by:
- Training teachers & parents to identify learning disabilities
- Strengthening health-education referral systems
- Creating welcoming, inclusive school environments
Role Purpose
Lead a team of trainers to deliver high-impact, sustainable inclusive education across three districts. Mentor teachers, design workshops, supervise trainees, and ensure quality M&E for lasting systemic change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training for teachers, tutors, health & education officials on identification & referral
- Mentor parents/communities on learning diversity
- Embed inclusive practices in NGO projects
- Plan & facilitate workshops across 30 schools
- Oversee M&E for all capacity-building
- Supervise Frostig trainees & volunteers
- Develop new content & adapt during holidays
- Facilitate reflection sessions & whole-school events
- Write impact reports & document success stories
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s in Education or Special Needs/Inclusive Education (Ugandan university)
- 3+ years leading workshops/trainings
- 2+ years team management/supervision
- Strong M&E and computer skills
- Fluent English; Luo strongly preferred
