Job Summary

The Systems Administrator will manage and maintain Exim Bank Uganda’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, backups, and virtualization systems, ensuring security, reliability, and compliance with Bank of Uganda regulations. The role involves managing Active Directory, email systems, and disaster recovery protocols while supporting system performance and continuous improvement.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize servers, virtualization, storage, and backup systems for high availability and data integrity
• Perform system upgrades, capacity planning, and resource optimization to support bank operations
• Configure and manage Active Directory, email systems, and user access rights for secure identity management
• Provide OS-level support for Windows and Linux environments, including patch management and system optimization
• Implement and monitor IT security policies, updates, and system hardening to protect against vulnerabilities
• Conduct regular security audits, log reviews, and compliance checks
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity through robust backup protocols and regular DR testing
• Monitor system performance, proactively troubleshoot issues, and escalate critical problems per SLAs
• Maintain detailed system documentation and ensure compliance with internal and external audit standards
• Provide regular technical and performance reports to management
• Ensure IT operations align with Bank of Uganda regulations and industry best practices
• Collaborate with vendors and cross-departmental teams to implement technological solutions and integrations
• Continuously learn new technologies to enhance infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in banking or financial services
• Certifications in Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), VMware, or Linux are highly desirable
• Knowledge of databases (Oracle/MS SQL), networking, and IT security best practices is an advantage
• Key Skills:
  • Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Deep understanding of IT security and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and report-writing skills
