About Uganda Insurers Association (UIA)

The umbrella group for all Ugandan insurance businesses with licenses is the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA).  UIA is dedicated to encouraging professionalism, best practices, and long-term expansion in the insurance industry.  As part of our goal to help the industry develop its capacity, we are providing a stimulating internship opportunity for a driven, meticulous person who has a love for finance and wants to learn more about the insurance sector.

Position : Finance Intern

3–6 months (with possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs)

Responsibilities

• You will assist the Finance Department in its daily operations as a Finance Intern and acquire useful experience in the following fields:  

• helping with record keeping, processing invoices, and data entry.  assisting with budget monitoring, reconciliations, and financial report creation.  

• helping to ensure correct financial documentation and providing auditing support.  assisting with bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and transaction monitoring.  

• taking part in the financial statement preparation and review process.  arranging and filing financial documents in hard copy and digital media. 

•  helping the finance officer with any extra accounting or administrative duties.

  KEY QUALIFICATIONS 

• seeking or having just finished a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a similar discipline. 

•  fundamental understanding of financial reporting and accounting concepts.  competence with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel.  

• high degree of honesty, precision, and attention to detail.  

• strong time-management and organizing abilities.  a desire to learn and collaborate in a fast-paced setting.  

• An further benefit is interest in the financial services or insurance sectors.
