Role Overview

Title of the Position: Trainer for the Biometric Voter Verification Kit (General Elections 2026)

Number of Positions: 1,050 (3 per constituency)

Duty Stations: Offices of the District Electoral Commission

Reports to: Head of IT Department / District Returning Officer

The job's purpose: To teach people how to use the Biometric Voter Verification Kit (BVVK) and help them with IT problems on polling days.

1,050 Nationwide Roles: 3 trainers per constituency — critical for election integrity in 2026.

Responsibilities, Roles, and Duties

Training Delivery
  • Get the learning space ready, set up the tools you need, and make sure the resources meet the needs of the learners.
  • Get training materials ready and up to date, like user guides and presentations.
  • Hold training courses on the Biometric Voter Verification System (BVVS).
  • Put complicated technical ideas into simple words.
  • Give trainees one-on-one help during and after sessions to help them remember what they learned and answer their questions.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Help with technological problems and troubleshooting during training.
  • Teach users how to keep their hardware, software, and systems safe.
  • Helping with technical issues with the Biometric Voter Verification System (BVVS) at polling places.
  • Helping with testing, training, and practice runs before the day of the vote.
  • Help with technological problems and troubleshooting on polling days
Evaluation & Reporting
  • Use examinations and evaluations to see how well students are doing.
  • Check on and rate how well training programs work.
  • Use feedback, tests, and performance metrics to see how well the training program works. This will help you make changes to it if you need to.
  • Get feedback from people who took part so you may make changes that need to be made.
  • Keep track of the training sessions that have been finished, the people who attended, and any problems that came up during training.
  • Writing down incidents and giving technical reports to managers.
Other Duties
  • Doing any other IT and election system-related tasks that your boss gives you.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education:

  • A diploma from a school that is known for it is the least you need.
  • Having a bachelor's degree (Hons) or diploma in information technology, computer science, information systems, software engineering, business computing, or a related discipline is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • It helps to know how to use and operate a smart device that runs the Android operating system.
  • It would be good to have experience in training or building capacity.
  • Must be a registered voter in the district of choice.
  • It will be helpful to know about voting technology systems like BWVS.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good at fixing problems and analyzing things.
  • Ability to operate well under pressure in a high-stakes setting.
  • Great talents in talking to and getting along with other people.
  • Ability to train and help non-technical staff in a useful way.
  • A strong sense of ethics and a promise to keep things private.
  • Being willing to work long and strange hours, such nights and weekends.

District Voter Requirement: Must be a registered voter in the district where you apply.

Length of Engagement

The deployment will last for three (3) months. The Electoral Commission will set the specific dates for the engagement, which will include the time before, during, and after the election.

How to Apply

Deadline:21 November 2025 

Applications must be typed and include:

  • A full CV with the applicant's contact information, including their daytime phone number
  • The names, addresses, and daytime phone numbers of three referees
  • Copies of certified academic transcripts and certificates
  • A copy of the National Identification Card

These applications must be sent by hand to the appropriate District Election Administrator not later than November 21, 2025.

The words "Application for the post of Biometric Voter Verification Kit Trainer" should be prominently written at the top of the envelopes.

A list of candidates who will be interviewed will be posted in the offices of the District Election Administrators/Returning Officers. This list will include the dates and locations of the interviews.
