Job Summary

The ACSL Country Liaison Advisor, based in VVOB’s Kampala, Uganda office, will represent the African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL) to implementation partners in Uganda and connect the country context to ACSL’s pan-African efforts. Reporting to the ACSL Regional Coordinator in Kenya, this role involves aligning the LIT-LEAD program with Uganda’s needs, facilitating collaboration among stakeholders, and supporting school leadership development through policy, professional development, and inclusivity initiatives.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Represent ACSL to current and potential implementation partners in Uganda, ensuring the LIT-LEAD program aligns with the country’s context and needs
  • Establish structures and processes to enable smooth collaboration among national stakeholders and ACSL implementing partners in Uganda for effective LIT-LEAD program execution
  • Actively participate in the school leadership mapping exercise to identify needs in policy creation, professional development, research, sector coordination, and gender, equality, and social inclusion
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of Uganda’s education context among stakeholders
  • Bridge the national program component with the pan-African ACSL coalition, providing technical advice and expertise on effective school leadership to national implementing partners
  • Support the organization, implementation, and follow-up of in-country project activities, providing regular progress reports to ACSL and other partners

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Graduate degree in Education, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field
  • Proven experience in education program coordination, preferably with a focus on school leadership or policy reform
  • Strong understanding of Uganda’s education system and stakeholder dynamics
  • Experience working with government partners, NGOs, or international organizations in education initiatives
  • Excellent networking, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and contribute to policy development
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with adaptability to diverse cultural and programmatic contexts
  • Knowledge of gender, equality, and social inclusion in education is an advantage
