Mikhman Produce is looking for a dedicated Agronomist who specializes in growing Hass avocados to give technical support in the field, train farmers, and improve orchard output in Central and Western Uganda.

Job Title: Agronomist with a focus on Hass Avocados

Organization: Mikhman Produce

Location: Central and Western Uganda (Field-based)

Type of Work: Full-Time

Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities

• Teach farmers Good Agricultural Practices on the farm and help them with technical issues
• Offer advice on irrigation, pest and disease control, and orchard care
• Lead the grafting and nursery operations for Hass avocados.
• Make sure that the nursery meets registration standards.
• Plan harvest schedules and help estimate yields.
• Build and manage dependable networks of farmers.
• Give farmers ongoing guidance and technical advice.
• Gather data from the field and keep an eye on progress to make things more productive.
• Help farmers grow their businesses in different areas

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

• A bachelor's degree in agronomy, horticulture, or a related discipline
• At least three years of hands-on experience with tree crops in agronomy
• Proven skill in grafting Hass avocados and running an orchard
• Knowing how to register a nursery and follow the rules
• Good in talking to people, training them, and getting along with others.
• Ability to operate alone in rural areas and on the field
• Willingness to travel a lot in Central and Western Uganda
• A strong interest in improving agriculture and export standards
