Job Summary

The Business Analyst will support the Business & Institutional Banking (BIB) team by preparing high-quality credit proposals, managing customer expectations, and ensuring compliance with credit policies. The role involves deal structuring, portfolio monitoring, financial analysis, and assisting Relationship Managers (RMs) in onboarding and managing key corporate clients.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

Credit Analysis & Structuring

  • Prepare and review business credit proposals in line with bank credit policies for timely approval
  • Manage annual credit review process in collaboration with Credit Collections and Relationship Managers
  • Structure and document credit facilities appropriately, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulations
  • Ensure proper deal pricing to maximize revenue and full collection of applicable fees and commissions
  • Advise RMs on additional income opportunities through account and transaction trend analysis
  • Prepare memos for facility extensions and restructures as needed
  • Follow up on facility documentation to confirm compliance with approved terms and conditions

Portfolio Management & Client Support

  • Monitor portfolio quality, perform risk recognition, and assign appropriate risk ratings to customer relationships
  • Support RMs in onboarding and managing high-value BIB relationships
  • Maintain high client satisfaction through proactive issue resolution and continuous engagement
  • Ensure portfolio documentation is valid, complete, and up to date
  • Conduct industry and customer financial analyses to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Support preparation of credit memos, proposals, and board papers as required

Business Growth & Performance

  • Contribute to new-to-bank client acquisition and lending growth within target segments
  • Support liability and non-interest income growth through effective portfolio management
  • Drive profitability by maintaining strong yields and margins on business lending portfolios
  • Proactively identify new market opportunities and recommend innovative financial solutions

Key Performance Indicators

  • Credit portfolio quality and compliance
  • Lending and liability growth
  • Non-interest and interest income performance
  • Client satisfaction and retention levels
  • Timely completion and approval of credit proposals

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Quantitative Economics, or Statistics from a recognised institution
  • Additional certification or training in Credit Analysis, Risk Management, or Financial Analysis is an advantage
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in financial services, with at least 2 years in credit risk management
  • Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet) and credit structuring
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Personal Attributes:
