Job Summary

Nurture Africa is looking for a skilled and motivated Carpentry Trainer to deliver high-quality vocational training This part-time (05) role aims to provide trainees with comprehensive skills in woodworking furniture making and construction carpentry .

The trainer will be very important in creating a skilled workforce of artisans and business owners who can meet market needs The best person for the job is a master carpenter who has a lot of hands-on experience and wants to teach others how to do it

Roles & Responsibilities / Main Duties

  • Create and teach a hands-on curriculum that includes joinery furniture design building methods and finishing
  • Give people hands-on training on how to safely and effectively use hand tools power tools and woodworking machines
  • Teach pupils how to read technical drawings measure things and choose the right materials
  • Stress the importance of safety in the workshop and make sure that all trainees follow the rules at all times
  • Help students through every step of making items from coming up with ideas to putting the finishing touches on them
  • Look at student work provide them technical input and help them build a portfolio of their skills
  • Run the training workshop which includes keeping tools in good shape and keeping track of materials
  • Teach students how to start and promote their own carpentry business or find skilled work

Academic Qualifications

PositionQualification
Carpentry TrainerA diploma or advanced certificate in carpentry woodworking building construction or a similar discipline from a school that is well-known

Skills and Experience

  • At least five years of professional experience as a furniture maker carpenter or joiner
  • It's better if you've taught or supervised apprentices before
  • Skilled in all parts of woodworking and having a good portfolio of finished projects
  • Great hands-on abilities and the ability to show others how to do things clearly
  • A commitment to student success great communication skills and patience
