Job Summary

UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) one of Uganda's top microfinance deposit-taking institutions is looking for a careful and analytical Credit Analyst to work with them in Kampala.

 This job is very important to the institution's financial health and growth plan. The Credit Analyst will be in charge of doing detailed assessments of credit data and financial information from people groups and businesses that want to borrow money

 The basic goal is to figure out how likely someone is to pay back a loan how risky it is to lend money and to give smart advice to keep the institution's loan portfolio healthy and profitable This job is perfect for someone who works in finance and has a good understanding of how to analyze risk in a microfinance setting

Roles and Responsibilities / Main Duties
  • Loan Portfolio Quality: Keep an eye on and help keep a high-quality loan portfolio for the allocated region/branches with as few non-performing loans as possible
  • Financial Analysis: Look closely at and rate clients' loan applications (especially those for UGX 5 million or more) and financial documents to see if they are creditworthy and can pay back the loan
  • Risk Assessment: Use different analytical methods and calculate financial ratios to figure out how risky it is to lend money or provide credit
  • Decision Support: Write detailed credit proposals and make smart lending judgments that follow UGAFODE's credit rules and policies to the letter
  • Capacity Building: Help Relationship Officers Credit Business Supervisors and Branch Managers learn about credit analysis processes and best practices by giving them advice training and support
  • Compliance Monitoring: Check clients' loan performance every day to make sure they are following the agreed-upon terms and conditions and to spot early indicators of default
  • Reporting: Write daily and periodic reports for management to look over that show how loans are doing how much risk they are taking on how repayment trends are changing and how good the portfolio is
  • Debt Recovery Support: Work with the business teams to help get back non-performing and written-off loans which will assist keep loan loss provisions low
Academic Qualifications
Qualification
A approved school must have given you at least a bachelor's degree in finance accounting business administration or a closely related discipline
Skills and Experience
  • At least three years of hands-on experience with processing and analyzing credit applications at a bank or other financial institution
  • It is really helpful if you have worked in branch management or credit supervision before
  • Showed that you know how to handle credit identify risk and follow the rules
  • Very good at analyzing things and doing financial analysis
  • Great skills and knowledge in credit underwriting
  • Good at managing stakeholders and making connections
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure
  • Skills in planning organizing and helping customers that have been shown to work
  • A person who works well with others is good at negotiating and is focused on getting things done
