Position Summary

LDC is seeking motivated Field Technicians to implement its Sustainability Strategy with a focus on the Responsible Sourcing (RS) and Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) programs. This role is field-based requiring direct engagement with coffee farmers suppliers and local communities to promote sustainable practices and enhance supply chain traceability

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Implementation: Execute field activities for the Responsible Sourcing program including conducting farmer trainings performing field visits and assisting in the formation of new farmer groups
  • Data Collection & Management: Digitally collect and manage accurate farmer data including GPS coordinates and farm polygon mapping
  • Farmer Engagement: Recruit and onboard new farmers into the sustainability program and educate supply chain actors on best practices for sustainable coffee production and record-keeping
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Conduct internal farm inspections for all registered farmers and provide regular progress reports to the Team Leader
  • Traceability Support: Promote supply chain traceability by monitoring bulking centers and ensuring proper documentation
  • Collaboration: Work with external partners to support the implementation of the Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI)

Qualifications and Experience

EducationA Diploma in Agriculture or a closely related field
Experience2-3 years of experience working in sustainability certification programs (e.g. Rainforest Alliance 4C) or within agricultural supply chains preferably in the coffee sector
LanguageProficiency in both English and Runyankole is mandatory
Technical SkillsStrong understanding of coffee agronomy and agricultural supply chains Computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office and experience with digital data collection tools A valid motorcycle riding license is mandatory or the candidate must be willing to obtain one immediately
Personal AttributesWillingness to reside in rural areas close to farming communities Excellent organizational communication and community engagement skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
