About Bantwana Initiative Uganda
The Bantwana Initiative Uganda is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee all of the organization's financial activities.
This person will be in charge of making sure that the company is following the rules managing its finances well and making plans for the future to help the organization develop and stay in business
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Managing and planning finances
- Create and manage the use of financial policies processes and procedures
- Work with department leaders to develop yearly budgets and keep an eye on how they are used
- Make sure that project workers have access to financial information to help them carry out their tasks
Reporting and Accounting
- Make predictions about the company's finances and give management advice on how well the company is doing financially
- Help with sub-agreements partner management and grants management
- Review and keep the accounting system up to date making sure that financial data is integrated and compliant so that financial reports can be made on time
- Follow the rules set by donors and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Make sure that statutory financial statements are prepared and audits are easy to do
Paying taxes and sending in returns
- Be clear about the tools such as tracking budgets tracking obligations and accrual reports and make sure they are submitted on time
Managing cash flow and the treasury
- To satisfy the needs of the firm you need to handle cash flow bank reconciliations and liquidity planning
- Give the go-ahead for payments and make sure that internal controls are always followed
- Make ensuring that all BUI expenses are reasonable effective and save money
- When necessary oversee investment planning
Management of Compliance and Risk
- Make sure you follow Uganda's tax employment donor and other financial rules
- Create and keep an eye on internal controls to protect the organization's assets
- Plan and carry out both internal and external audits and follow their advice
Team Leadership and Building Capacity
- Supervise and mentor finance workers to make sure they are always learning new things
- To be the main point of contact for statutory bodies donors and other stakeholders on behalf of the Finance department
- Train and help people in all departments so they can better manage their money
- Encourage a culture of honesty responsibility and efficiency
Qualifications Skills and Work History
- A bachelor's degree in finance accounting or a similar discipline (a master's degree is a plus)
- Experience with Quickbooks that has been proven
- You need to have a professional certification like ACCA CPA or CFA
- At least 7 years of experience in finance with at least 3 years in a management position
- Good understanding of international Financial Management Standards donor reporting and financial rules
- Proven expertise managing budgets audits and financial systems
- Please list the projects you've worked on together with the years and the budget amounts for each one
Skills and Abilities
- Good in analyzing things and coming up with solutions
- Great at leading and managing a team
- Strong morals honesty and a promise to keep things private
- Ability to use accounting software like QuickBooks Tally SAP or something similar
- Good at talking to and getting along with other people
- Professionalism Knowing the rules policies and procedures in general and especially those that have to do with budgeting managing donor finances and running and implementing programs and projects
- He or she is responsible and works hard to keep promises meet deadlines and get results while showing a deep understanding of the subject

- An approved yearly budget and good budget monitoring
- Full compliance with all legal and donor standards
- Good handling of financial flow
- Finance staff with built-in capacity
