Job Summary

The Graduate Trainee – Back Office at Watu Simu will support the Back Office Supervisor in assessing the accuracy of data for approved client loans, flagging inaccuracies for correction, and ensuring efficient onboarding processes. 

The role involves verifying document authenticity, communicating with customers, and adhering to company policies to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and organizational targets.

Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry and approval/verification of key stages during the onboarding process in accordance with SLAs
  • Verify the authenticity of documents and information by contacting relevant customers to confirm accuracy
  • Clearly define reasons for rejecting loans during verification
  • Liaise with team supervisors to resolve issues affecting the Back Office System (OBS)
  • Ensure all sales are completed within recommended timelines, communicating with Field Officers (FO) for follow-up if delays occur
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with the company’s policies, processes, and code of conduct
  • Fulfill any reasonable tasks assigned or approved by management that align with company goals and targets
  • Proactively recommend improvements and innovative ideas to increase business efficiency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills with fluency in English, Luganda, or other widely spoken languages such as Runyankole, Rutooro, Rufumbira, Rukiga, Ateso, Acholi, Langi, Kumam, Lumasaba, Swahili, or Lugbara
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Google Sheets, ERP)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the organization
  • Strong networking and relationship-building abilities
  • Passion for sales and customer engagement
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
