Job Summary

The Grants Accountant is in charge of managing the finances and keeping the books for programs that get money from the Austrian.

Development Agency (ADA) and other comparable donors The job is mostly about making sure that donor rules are followed to the letter, keeping correct financial records, and sending reports on time.

 The best candidate will be someone who pays attention to details, has worked on initiatives financed by donors, and can do well in a fast-paced setting

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Managing Grant Money:

  • Keep track of the "Grow Equal" project's and other ADA-funded initiatives' budgets and spending
  • Check the project's health by doing regular evaluations and analyses of its finances
  • Find financial hazards and come up with ways to lessen them
  • Make sure that the financial management of the allocated projects is correct overall

Reporting on Money:

  • Make and send in all the regular financial and management reports for the projects that SOS and the donor (ADA) need
  • Make sure that all reports are correct, full, and sent in on time
  • Make quarterly and yearly financial reports that follow the rules that have been set
  • Answer questions and requests for more financial information from donors

Bookkeeping & Accounting:

  • Use the Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP system to keep accurate and up-to-date accounting records for the projects
  • Take care of the grants' accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Make sure that all financial transactions are recorded correctly and on time
  • Check your accounts often and fix any problems that come up
  • Handle requests for fund transfers and keep track of refunds for payments that were processed in the center

Following the Rules:

  • Make sure you follow all ADA donor guidelines and regulations, SOS internal policies, and national legislation
  • Help people follow the organization's rules for finances and internal controls
  • Find and report any possible or actual problems with compliance

Making a Budget:

  • Help in making and keeping track of project budgets
  • Make predictions about the budget and look at the differences
  • Find ways to save money and make things work better
  • Work with project teams to make sure that budgets are in line with project goals

Support for Capacity Building and Audits:

  • Take part in capacity evaluations and provide training programs for staff and partners who are putting the plan into action on how to manage money, grants, and follow the rules
  • Help put in place robust internal controls to make sure that finances are honest
  • Be the principal point of contact for auditors, making financial statements and answering their questions

Protecting:

  • Follow the organization's Safeguarding Policy and make sure that all management processes include safety measures and that the workplace is safe

Skills and Qualifications

RequirementDetails
EducationYou need at least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Financial Management, or a similar discipline
Experience2 to 5 years of proven expertise in grant accounting and managing donor-funded projects, especially with ADA

Professional Certification: 
You must be a member of a well-known accounting group (such the ACCA or CPA) at Level 2 or higher 
Skills in Technology: 
Knowledge with ERP systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) 
Good at analyzing and solving problems 
Personal Traits: 
Has a lot of integrity, is self-motivated, and pays attention to details 
Works well with others and has great communication abilities
