Hima Cement is looking for a Laboratory Technician whose main job is to test things and report to the Quality Control Engineer

This person will make sure that all products and systems are of high quality

The job helps clients inside and outside the company by coming up with new products coming up with new ideas and giving customer service

The person in this profession is responsible for making sure that products are of high quality by following quality control rules and procedures

a Preparing and testing samples b Following health and safety rules c Keeping testing equipment in good shape d Checking the accuracy of equipment/LQTS a Writing reports and keeping records of results

• Get vitamins and other supplements
• Keep accurate records of results and observations and keep up with papers and/or computer databases
• Make ensuring that standards for health and safety and cleanliness are met
• Prepare samples do physical tests and analyze them according to the rules that apply
• Keep an eye on and talk about quality issues that affect the quality of the product
• Do primary and mechanical testing on samples of cement including those from competitors
• Make sure that physical and material labs have the supplies they need
• Take care of sample stores and get rid of samples you don't desire on a regular basis
• Keep an eye on and manage the water levels in the curing tanks
• Write reports and technical papers
• Use secondary reference standards to check the correctness of your equipment by running Lab Quality Technical Standards (LQTS)
• Every day check and write down the temperature and humidity in the curing rooms tanks and cabinets
• Make sure that testing equipment is properly cared for
• Follow and set an example for safety policies to help create a strong safety culture
• Do work in the field when you need to
• Get vitamins and other supplements

• What you need to know for school At least a diploma in chemistry material engineering laboratory science technology (chemistry/physical) or a similar field Being able to test concrete and cement is a plus
• At least one year of experience in the construction materials sector or a related field
• At least one year of experience in a lab
• Understanding of quality control and assurance
• Being able to use MS Office well
• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Profile and Personal Traits Driven by outcomes and self Able to make plans and set priorities Easy to talk to and an excellent listener Dependable patient and determined Able to work long hours as necessary Good in talking to people Being able to work anywhere in Uganda is another plus
