Summary of the Job:

The Movement Control Assistant will arrange the movement of passengers and cargo, make sure that safety and security rules are followed for UN peacekeeping operations, and make sure that everything goes smoothly.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Help JMCC and IDC come up with plans for how to load passengers and cargo
Make sure that plans, schedules, and safety measures are followed by coordinating daily operations and assigning tasks to staff
Make sure that dangerous goods are transported in accordance with international rules
Coordinate shipments, including customs clearance, choosing carriers, routes, and transit times
Work with Mombasa seaport and Entebbe airport authorities, shipping lines, airlines, and freight forwarders
Help with planning and carrying out the movements of military and police units.
Work with Air Operations to plan daily flights that fulfill the needs of passengers and cargo.
Make operational reports and the statistical data that goes with them.
Plan and coordinate the movements of VIPs
Talk to the Ground Handling Agent and keep an eye on the ground handling services.
Keep in touch with UN agencies, NGOs, and government offices about travel needs.
Help with multi-modal movement control for all cargo movements for the Mission.
Plan and oversee the work at the MOVCON Warehouse

Qualifications and Work History:

A high school diploma or the equivalent is required.
A technical or vocational certificate in logistics or aviation safety is a plus.
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in movement operations is required.
Experience coordinating passengers and cargo, dealing with vendors, and overseeing multimodal logistics is also required.

Languages:

English: You need to be at UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
