Job Summary

Help the MSME company flourish in ASAI nations, starting with Uganda, by helping to set up the lending function and making sure it works perfectly from the start. Use your full understanding of MSME lending, from product development to operational procedures to regulatory compliance to risk management to portfolio monitoring.

Take an active role in planning, developing, and carrying out the MSME framework in line with ASAI's long-term vision and strategic goals Don't only do your daily tasks

Responsibilities, Duties, and Roles

  • MSME Product Development: Create and establish MSME loan products, eligibility requirements, credit policies, risk models, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are specific to micro, small, and medium businesses
  • Setting up credit and risk infrastructure: Set up credit appraisal processes, risk control mechanisms, and portfolio monitoring tools, such as integrating with credit bureaus
  • Compliance with rules and regulations: Make that MSME activities follow RBI rules, set up internal audits, and create frameworks for regulatory reporting and MIS
  • Development of Operational and Credit Policies: Write, revise, and standardize policies and processes to make sure that MSME operations are running smoothly and following the rules at all branches
  • Market Benchmarking: Look at what competitors are doing to make that ASAI's MSME products are still competitive in terms of price, structure, and delivery Suggest changes as appropriate
  • Growth of the MSME Portfolio and Client Migration: Find microfinance clients who are ready to graduate to MSME and create organized migration processes to grow the MSME portfolio
  • Training and building the capacity of MSME staff: Teach Loan Officers and Relationship Managers how to sell MSME goods well, with an emphasis on knowing the products, assessing credit, and serving clients
  • Budgeting and anticipating: Help the MSME vertical's annual budgeting by anticipating portfolio growth, revenue goals, and operational resource demands
  • Setting goals and keeping an eye on performance: Set and keep an eye on branch-level goals that are in line with ASAI's MSME growth goals, making sure that progress is made and help is given when needed
  • Data-Driven MSME Reporting and Insights: Work with data teams to make regular reports that show trends in risk, portfolio health, and operational performance

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

EducationA university degree in banking, economics, finance, or a related field is preferred

Other Qualifications and Skills: 
At least 8 years of experience in business development in the financial services industry, with at least 2 of those years at the management level 
A good understanding of credit and business policies, processes, and procedures 
A good grasp of underwriting and modeling credit risk 
A good understanding of credit bureau systems and risk control frameworks 
A good understanding of how to do competitor analysis in MSME finance services 
A good understanding of the MSME industry and company model, including its strategy and all of its goods and services 
A good understanding of and ability to explain developments in the economy of both industries and countries 
Required Skills: 
Strategic Thinking and Conceptualization: You are very good at thinking strategically, coming up with ideas, and making sure that projects fit with corporate goals 
Training and Capacity Building: Able to plan and carry out successful training programs that improve the skills of team members 
Business and Financial Acumen: A good grasp of business models, operational economics, and financial principles 
Credit Risk Management: Proven ability to evaluate, control, and reduce credit risk in lending portfolios 
Making Decisions and Solving Problems: You need to be able to think analytically, make good decisions, and solve hard problems quickly 
Communication and Presentation: You have great verbal, written, and presentation abilities and can clearly get your point across to a wide range of people 
Teamwork and People Skills: Able to work well with others and create and keep relationships with people inside and outside the company 
Stakeholder Management: Good at managing expectations and working with teams from different departments and outside partners
