Finding XY is a business and innovation support group that helps MSMEs expand all around Uganda. We run programs that make entrepreneurial ecosystems stronger make it easier for firms to get money and give small and developing enterprises the help they need .

1. Manager of Senior Programs

Location: Kampala Uganda You may need to go within Uganda from time to time

Length and level of effort: two years

Background

The Senior Programs Manager will be in charge of all program portfolios mentor and supervise program managers make sure that programs are delivered on time and within budget lead fundraising efforts and represent Finding XY at high-level forums and partnerships

Main Duties

  • Lead all program areas strategically making sure that actions are in line with Finding XY's goal and the priorities of its donors
  • Make ensuring that milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met by overseeing the planning budgeting and implementation of multi-donor multi-year projects
  • Guide and mentor program managers to create an environment where people are responsible learn and come up with new ideas
  • Work with funders government agencies businesses and other interested parties to strengthen collaborations and find new ways to work together
  • Find problems with the program early on suggest ways to fix them and make sure that donor and organizational requirements are met
  • Include gender inclusivity and climate-smart principles in all of your initiatives
  • Help share knowledge by writing high-quality reports presentations and lessons-learned briefings
  • Lead or help with proposal writing and fundraising efforts to get more money for the program

Needed Skills and Experience

Requirement
A master's degree in business administration economics development studies or a similar discipline
At least seven years of experience in program or portfolio management including at least three years in a senior leadership position
Proven success running development or business support initiatives with multiple donors over multiple years
A lot of expertise with budgeting strategic planning and working with donors
Proven ability to lead and mentor teams with people from different backgrounds
Great skills in managing stakeholders and communicating with them
Knowing about Uganda's MSME and business ecosystems

2. Manager of Programs

Location: Kampala Uganda You may need to go within Uganda from time to time

Length and level of effort: two years

Background

The Programs Manager will be in charge of planning carrying out and keeping an eye on assigned programs to make sure they are delivered on schedule and within budget The job includes overseeing program officers or coordinators helping with reporting and sharing information and fostering partnerships and getting donors involved

Main Duties

  • Plan carry out and keep an eye on program activities to make sure they fulfill goals deadlines and quality standards
  • Help with managing the budget keep track of program spending and make sure resources are used wisely
  • Watch over and guide program officers or coordinators encouraging responsibility learning and new ideas
  • Work with stakeholders like donors government agencies and corporate sector partners to help the program reach its goals
  • Find problems with the program provide workable remedies and make sure that the program meets the standards set by donors and the organization
  • Include gender inclusivity and climate-smart principles in all programs
  • Help with reporting such as writing progress reports case studies and lessons-learned documents
  • Help with proposal writing and fundraising efforts when needed

Necessary Qualifications and Experience

Requirement
A bachelor's degree in business administration economics development studies or an area that is similar Having a Master's degree is an advantage
At least 4 to 6 years of experience managing or implementing programs ideally with MSMEs enterprise development or initiatives financed by donors
Has experience leading program teams and keeping track of many tasks at once
Knowledge in budgeting strategic planning and reporting in a situation where money comes from donors
Good at talking to people and managing stakeholders
Knowing about Uganda's MSME and business ecosystems

3. Specialist in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)

Location: Kampala Uganda You may need to go within Uganda from time to time

Length of time and amount of work: two years

Background

The MEL Specialist will use their technical knowledge to improve monitoring evaluation and learning across programs and assistance for MSMEs Finding XY will work with the specialist to improve the organization's ability to make decisions report on them and keep getting better

Main Duties

  • Create put into action and keep up MEL frameworks for programs making sure they are in line with the aims of the organization and the needs of donors
  • Create indicators tools for collecting data and ways to measure the outputs outcomes and effects of MSME support programs
  • Gather study and make sense of both quantitative and qualitative data to help make decisions and improve programs
  • Make sure that reports dashboards and learning briefings for internal teams partners and donors are all on time correct and useful
  • Write down what you've learned the best ways to do things and case studies to let people share what they know and learn as an organization
  • Work with program teams technical experts and stakeholders to make sure that MEL activities are part of all program activities
  • Help Finding XY build up its institutional capacity for MEL by making systems procedures and data-driven decision-making better

Necessary Skills and Experience

Requirement
An advanced degree in a discipline linked to Monitoring and Evaluation Statistics Social Sciences Development Studies or something similar
At least five years of experience creating and putting MEL systems into place for programs ideally with MSMEs or social enterprises
Good at both quantitative and qualitative research methods analyzing data and writing reports
Have worked with MEL frameworks creating indicators and managing data
Good at analyzing solving problems talking to people and getting stakeholders involved
The ability to turn complicated data into useful information that can be used to make decisions about the program and the strategy

4. Specialist in Gender and Social Inclusion

Location: Kampala Uganda You may need to travel to project sites from time to time

Length and Level of Effort: Two years

Background

The GSI Specialist will help Finding XY improve its institutional capacity and visibility in gender and social inclusion They will do this by providing technical skills to include gender and social inclusion issues in program design and MSME assistance

Main Duties

  • Give MSMEs technical advice on gender and social inclusion (GSI) such as how to run a business that is open to everyone hire people from all backgrounds and make sure everyone has equal access to resources and markets
  • Help GSI principles become a part of the frameworks for designing carrying out and keeping an eye on programs
  • Create and teach training modules offer advice and hold events to build capacity on gender equality social inclusion and corporate practices that include everyone
  • Look at how MSMEs do things now and find ways to make their operations goods and services more fair and equal for men and women
  • Keep an eye on and report on how MSMEs are using GSI practices making case studies and knowledge products to show what they are doing
  • Work with program teams technical experts and stakeholders to make sure that inclusion is a part of all activities
  • Help Finding XY improve institutional knowledge visibility and chances in GSI-focused projects

Necessary Skills and Experience

Requirement
A degree in Gender Studies Social Sciences Development Studies Business or a similar discipline (an advanced degree is a plus)
At least five years of experience giving technical help or advice on gender equality inclusion or inclusive business
Experience giving MSMEs or organizations training or advice on GSI themes
Good at analyzing solving problems communicating and getting people involved
Understanding of gender equality frameworks social inclusion standards and the laws or policies that apply to them
Knowing how to monitor and evaluate GSI interventions is a plus

5. Officer of Finance

Location: Kampala Uganda

Length and level of effort: two years

Background

The Finance Officer will be in charge of managing the organization's finances making sure that rules and donor requirements are followed and helping program teams with budgeting reporting and financial planning

Main Duties

  • Keep accurate records of all financial transactions for the organization and its programs
  • Make and keep an eye on budgets to make sure that spending stays within permitted limits
  • Handle payments keep track of cash flow and make sure accounting are correct
  • Make sure that all internal financial rules donor rules and legal obligations are followed
  • Help program teams write financial reports for donors and managers
  • Help with audits by giving the right paperwork and explanations
  • Find and suggest ways to make financial processes systems and controls better
  • Help with the money side of writing proposals seeking money and getting resources

Qualifications and Experience Needed

Requirement
A bachelor's degree in accounting finance or a related discipline It helps if you have a professional accounting degree such a CPA ACCA or something similar
At least 3-5 years of experience in financial management preferably in NGOs development programs or MSME-focused organizations
A lot of experience with budgeting accounting and financial reporting
It is very helpful to have experience with donor-funded projects compliance and reporting requirements
Able to use Microsoft Excel and accounting applications well
Good at analyzing organizing and talking to people
Pay attention to details and be able to work with little supervision

6. Officer of Credit

Location: Kampala Uganda You might need to go to program and client sites from time to time

Time and level of effort: two years

Background

The Credit Officer's job is to evaluate and keep an eye on funding as well as give financial advice to both MSMEs and the firm itself

Main Duties

  • Check the finances of MSMEs and program partners who want to borrow money get a grant use a revolving fund or use any other type of financing
  • Look at cash flow estimates company plans and financial documents to see if the borrower can pay back the loan or make good use of the money
  • Write financing appraisal reports that make clear suggestions for approval or changes
  • Keep an eye on the financial performance and compliance of financed partners making sure they report on time and are held accountable
  • Help MSMEs and Finding XY with financial planning cash flow management budgeting and other money-related issues
  • Help construct financing bids financial models and other tools for analysis
  • Work with the program and finance teams to make sure that all financing tools are distributed tracked and reported on without any problems
  • Find financial risks suggest ways to reduce them and help make assessment tools and procedures better

Required Skills and Experience

Requirement
A bachelor's degree in finance accounting economics or an area that is similar
You must have at least three years of experience in credit evaluation financial analysis or managing different types of financing (loans grants revolving funds)
A lot of expertise giving MSMEs or organizations advice on financial management modeling or planning
Understanding of Uganda's MSME ecosystem and financial situation
Great at analyzing solving problems and talking to people
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other financial tools as well as financial analysis software
Pay attention to details and be able to work alone and handle more than one task at a time

7. Officer in charge of communications

Background

The Communications Officer will be in charge of all communications inside the business making it more visible and getting stakeholders involved

Main Duties

  • Create and put into action communication plans for the organization that will make it more visible and get more people involved
  • Write press releases newsletters papers case studies and social media postings that are of high quality
  • Run the organization's website and social media accounts making sure that the information is timely and interesting
  • Plan media appearances public events and efforts to get more people to see you
  • Help with internal communications so that staff and management are always on the same page
  • Keep an eye on media coverage keep track of engagement metrics and report on the effects of communication
  • Make sure that all communications are in line with the organization's branding mission and values
  • Help with communications for proposal writing donor reporting and sharing information projects

Needed Skills and Experience

Requirement
A bachelor's degree in communications public relations journalism marketing or an area that is similar
At least three years of experience in communications public relations or a similar field
Good at writing editing and narrating stories and paying attention to details
Have worked with social media and digital communication technologies before
Ability to turn technical or programmatic knowledge into understandable interesting communications
Having worked in development organizations or with MSMEs is a plus
Good in managing people groups and stakeholders as well as organizing things
Can work alone and handle many assignments with tight deadlines

8. Expert in the Circular Economy

Location: Kampala Uganda You may need to travel to project sites from time to time

Background

The Circular Economy Specialist will help MSMEs develop sustainable practices and incorporate circular economy ideas by providing technical assistance The specialist will also endeavor to improve Finding XY's position in circular economy efforts

Main Duties

  • Help MSMEs learn about circular economy principles such as how to design make use and manage things in a way that is good for the environment
  • Create and teach training modules and offer advice on how to use resources more efficiently recycle assess a product's life cycle and use renewable energy
  • Look at how MSMEs do things now find ways to make them more circular and help them come up with sustainable business and financial models
  • Keep an eye on how MSMEs are using circular economy methods and write reports on what you've learned and case studies
  • Work with program teams technical experts and stakeholders to make sure that circular economy principles are used in all activities
  • Help Finding XY improve its knowledge visibility and chances in circular economy projects

Qualifications and Experience That Are Required

Requirement
A master's degree in Environmental Science Sustainable Business Circular Economy Industrial Ecology or a similar discipline
At least five years of experience giving technical support for green business circular economy or sustainability issues
Good at analyzing solving problems talking to others and getting people involved
Knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks life-cycle assessment and sustainability standards

9. Business Development Service (BDS) Coordinator (10 Jobs)

Location: There are two coordinators for each district in Gulu Mbarara Mbale Soroti and Kampala

Length and level of effort: two years

Background

The BDS Coordinator will be in charge of planning carrying out overseeing and reporting on programs that help MSMEs enhance their skills in their district

Eligibility

Anyone can apply if: Enterprise Support Organizations (ESOs) that focus on developing the capacity of MSMEs and have an office in the district where they are applying Individual BDS providers that live in the district they are applying to and have experience providing MSME training coaching or advisory services

Main Duties

  • Organize plan and manage MSME capacity-building initiatives in the district you are in charge of
  • Find organize and get MSMEs to take part in programs and trainings
  • Put into action training mentoring and business advice
  • Keep track of how participants are doing get comments and help with monitoring and reporting
  • Work with local stakeholders to make MSME support networks stronger
  • Make sure that delivery meets the requirements of Finding XY and the goals of the program
  • Help with activities that share knowledge including writing success stories
  • Help make training materials and methods better

Needed Skills and Experience

Requirement
For ESOs: at least four years of experience in MSME training consulting services or enterprise support For individuals: at least three years of experience giving MSME training mentoring or advice
Knowledge of Uganda's MSME ecosystem problems and chances
Good at organizing talking to people and writing reports
Can work alone handle many tasks at once and work with a central team
An strategy to MSME support that takes gender and inclusiveness into account
