Persistent poverty climate-related shocks land degradation and poorly functioning agricultural markets continue to hold back the growth of smallholder farmers in Uganda
These problems are especially bad for people who make a living from cattle as bad access to markets unsustainable land use practices and low productivity all come together to lower living earnings.
The effects are strongest in areas like Busoga Rwenzori Greater Ankole and Kigezi where farming and raising animals are the main ways for rural families to make money and get food. In response the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) in Kampala is funding a transformative five-year program (2024–2029) by the SNV Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) that aims to improve the living conditions and resilience of 75000 smallholder farmer (SHF) households through livestock-centered development.
The project goes beyond traditional methods and uses Participatory Integrated Planning (PIP) as its main tool to provide SHFs the power to shape their own development paths The initiative will encourage sustainable land use higher animal output better access to inclusive markets and better food and nutrition security by helping farmers adapt and encouraging integrated planning at the household level
The INCLUDE project is based on two outcome areas that are closely linked: sustainable agriculture and livestock markets that are open to everyone. A locally embedded ecosystem-based paradigm that brings together public corporate and civil society actors will help these things move forward
This is not a standard top-down project; it is a farmer-centered project that prioritizes working together learning all the time and making things last Regional teams will be in charge of putting the plan into action and the Project Manager will be in charge of the strategic direction of the 32 staff members who are committed to the project.
The Project Manager will make sure that the project is done well keep in touch with strategic partners build relationships with the private sector be the main point of contact with EKN and push for open reporting and sharing of information with all relevant stakeholders to make sure that the project's goals lead to real change on the ground

Uganda and requires a dynamic leader who understands systems thinking and inclusive development well enough to negotiate complicated rural ecosystems and bring about long-lasting change.
