Job Summary

The Proof Reader at Graphic Systems Uganda Limited ensures the accuracy of prepress files by checking for errors in grammar, spelling, and formatting, maintaining consistency with client and company standards while collaborating with design and production teams to meet quality and production deadlines

Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities

• Review prepress files (PDFs, proofs, impositions) for errors in grammar, spelling, and formatting
• Verify digital files against original manuscripts or client-provided copy to ensure content accuracy
• Check page numbers, image captions, headings, font usage, and alignment across all publications
• Ensure compliance with branding, style guides, and layout formatting as specified by clients or the company
• Collaborate with graphic designers, typesetters, and prepress operators to resolve issues before final approval
• Approve or reject final proofs, clearly and promptly noting required changes
• Ensure quality standards and production schedules are met
• Track changes and verify that all revisions are implemented correctly

• Accuracy and error detection
• Average time to review each task
• Accuracy rate in formatting
• Number of jobs proofed weekly
• Clarity of communication as perceived by designers

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

Additional Requirements:
Preferably Ugandan national
Age: Under 30 years
Fluency in English, both spoken and written
Skills:
Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and language rules
Exceptional attention to detail and precision
Strong time management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and prepress file formats like PDF and InDesign
Knowledge of print production processes and terminology is highly beneficial
