Summary of the Position

We need a dedicated and proactive Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Officer to join our team. The person who gets the job will be in charge of creating, putting into action, and keeping an eye on our QHSE policies and programs to make sure they follow all relevant laws and industry standards.

Responsibilities, Roles, and Duties

Compliance and Regulation

Make sure that all of the company's activities follow national QHSE laws and international standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

Risk Management

To lower the number of accidents at work and the damage to the environment, do regular site inspections, identify hazards, and analyze risks. Lead investigations into all occurrences, accidents, and near misses, find the core reasons, and take effective steps to fix and prevent them.

Training and Development

Organize and run QHSE training, inductions, and workshops to teach employees and contractors about safety rules and quality requirements.

Documentation and Reporting

Keep accurate records of all QHSE events, activities, and audits. Write and send regular performance reports to the higher-ups.

Emergency Preparedness

Help design, keep up, and test emergency response plans.

Quality Assurance

Keep an eye on and enhance the quality control processes for products and services to make sure they meet company standards and customer expectations.

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

Required Skills and Experience
A bachelor's degree in a related discipline, such as occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or something similar.
At least three years of experience in a QHSE function, ideally in the transportation and logistics industry.
A good understanding of Ugandan QHSE laws and rules.
Great talents in talking to people, communicating, and giving presentations.
Having familiarity with safety management software and being good at Microsoft Office Suite is a bonus.
