Job Summary

The Transport and Inventory Controller – Customer Facing Specialist will manage inventory, billing, and transportation operations while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and distributors in Uganda. The role ensures timely deliveries, accurate inventory management, and exceptional customer service, aligning with DHL’s commitment to operational excellence.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records in customer systems (SAP)
  • Track customer sales invoices in SAP and provide regular reports and updates
  • Collaborate with the South Africa customer team to plan and manage transportation
  • Ensure truck availability and timely deliveries to key distributors
  • Monitor transportation KPIs and performance, making adjustments as needed
  • Manage transportation profit and loss and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Build strong client relationships to ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Proactively communicate with clients about orders, fulfillment, delivery schedules, and stock availability

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics or warehouse operations
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory management
  • Core Skills and Competencies (DPDHL):
    • Strong customer relationship-building and maintenance skills
    • Ability to create and deliver high-quality, innovative solutions
    • Alignment of plans and tactics with organizational goals
    • Support for continuous improvement and innovation
    • Empowering and motivating team members with accountability and recognition

  • Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English
