Job Summary

The Business Support Assistant (Cash-Based Transfers) at the World Food Programme (WFP) will provide operational and technical support to the Crisis Response Unit (CRU) to deliver food and nutrition assistance to refugees and vulnerable host communities through Cash-Based Transfers (CBT). The role involves assisting with CBT implementation, ensuring safety and compliance, monitoring pipelines and fund utilization, and contributing to monthly financial reconciliations and reporting. The position requires field missions and collaboration with implementing partners to enhance program efficiency and impact.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

Digital Assistance Services

  • Assist in deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting digital platforms used in food aid programs
  • Train staff and partners on digital assistance tools to ensure proper and independent usage
  • Provide technical assistance to WFP beneficiaries, partners, and staff for using and accessing digital assistance systems

Data Management and Analysis

  • Ensure digital technologies are accessible and functional for accurate and timely data collection, including identity management and distribution tracking
  • Regularly verify data quality to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Assist in analyzing program data and preparing reports to support decision-making and program improvement

Basic IT Assistance

  • Set up, install, and maintain IT equipment such as computers, printers, and network devices
  • Provide first-level IT assistance to Area and Field Office staff by troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Install and update software applications to keep systems secure and functional
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets and ensure proper utilization
  • Monitor network performance and implement IT security measures to protect data and systems

Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems, processes, and user guides for knowledge sharing and business continuity
  • Ensure adherence to WFP’s identity management, IT, and data protection policies
  • Perform other related duties as required

Expected Deliverables

  • Timely documentation of CBT activities for all distribution stages under CRU interventions
  • Up-to-date monthly CBT performance reports covering assistance and distributions
  • Accurate and completed monthly CBT reconciliations and accountabilities for all interventions
  • Finalized and reviewed FSP payment reports, ensuring timely submission and receipt
  • Optimized CBT pipelines and fund utilization to ensure efficient resource allocation
  • Successful implementation of CBT program strategies and support to execution
  • Conducted field missions for monitoring, engagement, and awareness-raising

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

Education

  • Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by a post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area
  • A university degree in Development Studies, Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Statistics, or Management Information Systems is desirable

Experience

  • At least four years of relevant work experience in reconciliation, auditing, and accounting
  • Implementation of humanitarian or development programs
  • Preparation and coordination of donor proposals and reports
  • Stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising
  • Integration of data from multiple sources

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Good at statistical analysis, accounting, and reconciliation
  • Experience in project and program management, particularly in humanitarian or development settings
  • Understanding of technical concepts and data relevant to CBT programming
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills

Languages

  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Knowledge of local languages is desirable
