Job Summary

WaterAid, a global leader in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), is seeking a CARFEWW Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of its climate-resilient WASH project in Kampala.  

This role ensures accurate budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with donor and government regulations, supporting WaterAid’s mission to improve access to clean water and sanitation The Project Accountant will play a key role in ensuring financial resources are effectively utilized to maximize the project’s impact on vulnerable communities

Duties

  • Develop and monitor project budgets
  • Review partner financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements
  • Manage disbursements
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Provide financial insights to project teams
  • Train local partners on financial processes
  • Ensure transparency
  • Prepare reports for donors and internal stakeholders
  • Liaise with government agencies to ensure compliance with local regulations

Qualifications

Experience5+ years of project finance experience, experience in nonprofit or development sectors preferred
EducationBusiness-related degree
CertificationsCPA
SkillsExpertise in donor reporting, proficiency in financial software, knowledge of WASH projects, strong analytical skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
