Job Summary

We're seeking for a dedicated and skilled Corporate Manager to help our business expand. The Purpose of the Job Give strategic leadership in finance, HR, compliance, and administration to make sure that the company grows in a way that is good for the environment, runs smoothly, and follows all local and international rules.

 The job is both operational and strategic, and it helps WASSHA Africa Uganda Limited with corporate governance, organizational performance, and risk management

Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities

Duties of a Manager

  • To run the accounting department
  • To run the HR and Administration department

Taxes and Accounting

  • Make sure that the monthly financial closure process is done on time and correctly, with a focus on WASSHA group deadlines The financial close process involves the cash flow, income statement, statement of financial position (balance sheet), and any other financial statements that may be needed
  • Make sure the accountant files all legal duties on time, like NSSF, PAYE, VAT, WHT, and LST, so that there are no fines
  • Make sure that all payments are approved and carried out on time (like Jobcan), and that you talk to the banks about them
  • Get in touch with the WASSHA staff's tax and accounting staff when needed
  • Teach and oversee the Tax and Accounting department
  • Be in charge of making yearly budgets, projections, and variance analyses
  • Make sure that you follow IFRS, GAAP, and group reporting rules
  • To protect firm resources, you should put in place strong internal controls, fraud detection systems, and risk management policies
  • Make sure that all external audit requirements are met and that the audit is finished on time
  • Set up a system and make sure that accounting runs well This will include using tools like QuickBooks for keeping track of money and Jobcan for applying for jobs
  • Keep an eye on the need and make sure that all payments are approved on time and carried out
  • Work with outside parties including auditors, bankers, lawyers, and others to make sure that strategies are in line with those of the General Manager and the Head Office

Human Resources and Administration

  • Work with the General Manager to build the human resource plan and understand the company's strategy Work with department heads to find holes in human resources and then actively suggest and tell the General Manager about them
  • Oversee the hiring process to make sure it goes smoothly and fairly according to corporate rules This includes finding qualified candidates who meet the job description and keeping the retention rate high
  • Oversee the process of evaluating employees and create career paths for each one to help them reach their full potential while the company grows and follows its plan
  • If there is a WASSHA group HR strategy, work with it to make sure that the General Manager's plans are in line with it
  • Lead succession planning and talent pipeline management to make sure that leadership stays the same
  • Encourage a culture of inclusiveness, participation, and following WASSHA ideals
  • Teach and oversee the HR and Admin department on all tasks relating to HR and Admin
  • Be on the lookout for any compliance issues that may come up, such harassment

The Main Role

  • The corporate manager will put in place preventive and preemptive steps and procedures to make sure that all of the company's employees have a safe physical and mental working environment
  • The physical working environment includes, but is not limited to, making sure that the office and the field are safe places to work
  • The mental working environment includes, but is not limited to, making sure that the company and its employees follow the rules and make the workplace a good place to be
  • To keep communication open, the Corporate Manager will work with people from all over the company, even those who don't report directly to them, like the Operational Manager and Leaders
  • Set up and train teams when needed, and train all employees on specific workflows and procedures when needed

Admin

  • Make sure the company follows the Company Law in Uganda and handles its legal risks
  • Take care of the office supplies and make sure the office and the company run well
  • Take care of any logistical needs for employees and the office when needed

Qualifications, Education, and Skills

RequirementDetails
EducationA bachelor's degree in accounting and finance or a related discipline (an MBA is a plus)

Other Qualifications and Skills: 
More than three years of experience as an accounting manager or higher in a business 
A full member of the CPA or ACCA 
Technical Skills: 
Good knowledge of tax and accounting, HR and administration, and health and safety rules and regulations 
Good knowledge of Excel 
Good report writing abilities 
Good presentation skills 
Functional Skills: 
Knowing and knowing Uganda's company law and other peripheral legislation 
Knowing and understanding Uganda's Tax and Company's Act 
Knowing and understanding accounting principles (IFRS and local GAAP) 
Behavioral Skills: 
Skills in leadership and management 
Be proactive in thinking about and discussing strategy and processes 
Be able to work well with other departments to reach the organization's goals 
Always learning new skills and how the firm is going
