About Backup Uganda
Backup Uganda is a non-profit championing inclusive education across Northern Uganda since 2016. We partner with schools, teachers, parents, and leaders to support children with learning differences. Our mission: Every Child Can Learn.
Role Purpose
As a Frostig Trainee, you will empower teachers, parents, and NGOs to identify, support, and refer students with learning challenges. Deliver workshops, mentor educators, raise community awareness, and contribute to program design and evaluation for sustainable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Train teachers, tutors, and health/education reps on identifying and supporting learning disorders
- Raise parent/community awareness on learning diversity
- Integrate inclusive practices into NGO programs
- Plan and facilitate workshops/seminars
- Support M&E for all training activities
- Develop new activities and adapt delivery during school breaks
- Schedule reflection sessions and whole-school events
- Conduct observations and facilitate teacher reflections
- Document activities and outcomes accurately
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s in Education, Special Needs/Inclusive Education, or related
- Graduated from Ugandan university after January 2025
- Additional training/facilitation experience (advantage)
- Strong computer skills
- Fluent English; Luo (advantage)
