About Backup Uganda
Backup Uganda is a leading non-profit driving inclusive education across Northern Uganda since 2016. We equip teachers, parents, and NGOs to identify and support children with learning differences. Our vision: Every Child Can Learn, together.
Role Purpose
Deliver high-impact training and mentorship to teachers, tutors, health workers, and NGOs in Kitgum. Build capacity to identify, support, and refer students with learning challenges. Design workshops, monitor impact, and embed inclusive practices across programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Train teachers, student teachers, and tutors on identifying learning disorders
- Mentor local health/education reps on referral pathways
- Raise parent/community awareness on learning diversity
- Integrate inclusive practices into NGO projects
- Plan and facilitate workshops/seminars
- Lead M&E for all training activities
- Develop new content and adapt during school breaks
- Facilitate teacher reflections and whole-school events
- Document outcomes and write impact reports
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s in Education, Special Needs/Inclusive Education, or related
- 3+ years leading workshops/trainings (advantage)
- Strong computer and M&E skills
- Fluent English; Luo (strong advantage)
