Job Description
Heifer International is looking for an experienced People Manager to join our team in Uganda.This strategic role will help the SAYE project get off the ground by creating and carrying out HR plans that are in line with the project's goals and Heifer's worldwide people strategy
The best applicant will work closely with project leaders to make sure that people management strategies are in place that will help the project have an impact and the organization succeed
Main Duties
Strategic Partnership & People Support (20%): Work with the People Director to create and carry out HR initiatives that support the goals of the project
Work with cluster coordinators and specialists as a business partner giving them advice on issues relating to people
Lead efforts to create a positive work environment and get employees more involved
Compliance and Risk Management (10%): Make sure that all employees follow national labor laws and company rules at all times
Keep accurate records in both local and global HRIS systems
Help with internal HR audits and employee relations work such as resolving complaints
Performance Management and Reward Systems (20%): Keep an eye on and rate progress against project performance metrics
Help with performance management by looking at the plans of both individuals and teams
Work with the People Director to help with compensation benchmarking and reviews
Employee Wellness Wellbeing and Engagement (20%): Come up with and put into action ways to get employees more involved
Make sure that employee wellness programs and grievance handling procedures are followed
Help and coach employees on how to solve problems and manage their performance
Learning and Development (20%): Find out what learning needs are specific to the project and plan ways to build capacity
Work with management to plan and carry out training programs
Give implementing partners more power so they can make sure the work is done well
Operational Support (10%): Help with the creation and revision of HR policies and procedures
Put in place HR systems and practices that work well
Work with stakeholders to predict workforce needs and help with hiring efforts
Academic Requirements
Requirement
A bachelor's degree in business administration human resources management or a similar discipline
A master's degree or HR certification (such CIPD or SHRP) is a plus
Necessary Skills
7–8 years of experience in HR with at least 3 years in a management position
Having worked with multinational NGOs and in a matrix framework is very important
A lot of understanding about Ugandan labor regulations
Good at HRIS and good at analyzing data
Great talents in talking negotiating and giving presentations
