Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) is seeking an innovative and tech-savvy Route to Market Specialist - Automation to enhance our product distribution strategies. Summary of the Role
This tech-focused position aims to improve how Coca-Cola’s products reach customers by utilizing advanced tools and data-driven strategies. The Route to Market Specialist - Automation will work closely with the commercial sales team and IT department to ensure the sales team has the best tools, routes, and data to sell and deliver products cost-effectively in Uganda’s competitive FMCG market.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses four key areas of responsibility:
- Managing Tools and Technology:
- Ownership: Act as the primary owner and super-user of RTM and sales automation software, such as Microsoft Dynamics (MSD) or similar routing systems.
- System Maintenance: Collaborate with the IT department to ensure sales staff fully utilize these tools and that they are updated and functioning optimally.
- Innovation: Integrate advanced technologies (e.g., sophisticated routing algorithms, GPS monitoring, mobile data capture) to continuously enhance RTM processes.
- Analyzing and Modeling Data:
- Data Integrity: Maintain highly accurate customer master data, including GPS coordinates, visit schedules, and route allocations, as the foundation for modeling.
- Simulation and Feasibility: Use advanced software to simulate proposed distribution model changes before real-world implementation to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
- Cost Optimization: Analyze models to meet annual cost goals and optimize resource use (vehicles, personnel).
- Planning and Carrying Out Strategies:
- Business Integration: Apply the overall business RTM model in daily operations and integrate it into the company’s annual business planning cycle.
- Market Intelligence: Understand the needs of new sales channels (e.g., e-commerce) and support new product launches by benchmarking against competitors and market trends.
- Working Together and Managing Stakeholders:
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Finance (for budgeting and cost analysis), HR (for training and resources), and Sales (for frontline feedback and execution) to ensure aligned and actionable strategies.
