Job Summary:
The job will be based at the Country Office in Kampala and will involve overseeing the technical aspects of the entire country program, WHH field offices, and working with partner organizations.
It will be available for a one-year introductory contract. The job will be filled on January 1, 2026.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be in charge of creating and putting into action WHH Uganda's Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategy
- Do or supervise gender and inclusion assessments to help plan programs in agriculture, WASH, livelihoods, and skills development.
- Give technical advice to make sure that all initiatives include gender-transformative and socially inclusive methods.
- Oversee the GESI-focused project portfolio that was carried out with the help of WHH partner organizations.
- Make staff and partners better at programming that is gender-sensitive and open to everyone.
- Work with the MEAL team to include GESI-sensitive indicators and do evaluations that are particular to gender.
- Help come up with ideas and proposals for projects that include GESI.
- Keep an eye on the GESI project's implementation, financial compliance, and usage of resources.
- Write down and share new ideas, good practices, and lessons learnt.
- Help set up internal learning events and peer interactions about changing gender roles.
- Be WHH Uganda's voice in national GESI coordination forums and advocacy groups.
- Build relationships with the government, donors, academics, and civil society.
- Support and promote standards for safety and PSEAH
- Work with MEAL and Safeguarding Focal Points to set up feedback systems that include everyone.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A master's degree in gender and women's studies or a bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, or a comparable discipline
- 7–10 years of experience running gender programs for multinational NGOs
- Strong knowledge of gender-transformative techniques, gender mainstreaming, and preventing and responding to gender-based violence.
- Proven ability to create gender capacity, advocate for gender issues, and get organizations involved.
- Excellent research, analytical, writing, and reporting skills.
- Showing that you know how the government works and what its policies are about gender
- Understanding of case management, psychosocial assistance, and programs that teach life skills
- Strong expertise in leading, managing programs, and developing personnel
- Proven ability to work with others and speak for WHH in technical forums
- Ability to budget, make predictions, and plan for resources
- Great communication and people skills
- Good at using Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle stress and travel a lot to program places
