Role Summary

The Senior Internal Auditor provides independent assurance and advisory services to aBi Development strengthening governance risk management and internal controls.

This role enhances operational effectiveness and supports strategic decision-making through compliance oversight and performance improvement

Key Responsibilities

Audit Planning & Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan aligned with aBi Development’s strategic objectives
Conduct risk assessments to prioritize audit areas and ensure compliance with professional standards (IIA’s IPPF)
Lead audit teams supervise fieldwork and prepare high-quality audit reports with actionable recommendations

Governance & Risk Management

Evaluate institutional governance risk management frameworks and internal control systems
Identify weaknesses in policies and processes and recommend improvements to senior management and the Board
Ensure compliance with relevant laws regulations and internal policies

Advisory Services

Provide value-added advisory services to management on key challenges leveraging research and best practices
Support sensitive investigations and track the implementation of recommendations to measure impact

Continuous Improvement

Monitor corrective actions and contribute to training programs to enhance internal controls and compliance
Share best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization

Qualifications & Experience

Category	Details
Education	Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance Business Administration or related field
Certification	Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA CPA) required
Experience	7–10 years in auditing within the donor-funded sector with 3+ years in a senior role
Technical Skills	In-depth knowledge of IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) Understanding of IPSAS risk management frameworks and regulatory compliance Strong analytical report-writing and communication skills
