Summary of the Job:
The Volunteer Public Health Officer will be in charge of community health education and mobilization initiatives. They will also help communities and health facilities work together better. This job includes putting public health measures into action, handling community feedback systems, and keeping an eye on diseases to make health outcomes better in Hoima's most at-risk neighborhoods.

Our main goals are to find long-term health solutions and give power to communities in areas that don't get enough treatment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up full community health education programs on nutrition, WASH, HIV/AIDS, and illness prevention
- Keep an eye on diseases and put outbreak control measures in place
- Build and keep relationships with local stakeholders and community partners
- Plan and carry out activities at the local level that help enhance community health
- Visit clients at home to find out what health problems they have and give them focused health education.
- Follow up with clients and send them to the right Medical Teams International departments.
- Make it easy for communities and health facilities to give each other feedback on a regular basis
- Go to and copy public health training programs in community settings
- Make sure that people are held accountable by managing community complaints and feedback systems.
- Gather and study public health data to create and evaluate programs
- Use behavior change tactics to get the community to take charge of their health needs
- Back programs that give vaccines and help mothers and children stay healthy.
- Do community evaluations to find out what public health issues are most important.
- Make and send in regular reports and data analyses on public health
- Teach community health workers and volunteers how to do their jobs
- Keep an eye on and assess how well public health programs operate
Skills and Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in public health or environmental health science
- Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council
- A valid practicing license from the Professional Council
- A master's degree in public health or a related subject (preferred)
- At least three years of experience carrying out public health activities
- Worked with international NGOs in humanitarian settings before
- Familiarity with health information systems (DHIS2, HIS)
- Experience with preparing for and responding to outbreaks
- In-depth knowledge of EPI, HIV/AIDS, WASH, and nutrition programs
- Knowing how to get people involved in the community and get feedback
- Being able to build capacity and coach others
- Being able to analyze data and write reports
- Being able to use computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Great at getting people involved in the community and developing relationships
- Willingness to take the lead and get things done on time
- Strong moral values and professional integrity
- Ability to adapt to and be sensitive to different cultures
- Commitment to humanitarian principles
