Job Summary

The Credit Relationship Officer (CRO) at Numida will manage a borrower portfolio, assess loan applications, evaluate creditworthiness, and ensure compliance with lending policies. This role is pivotal in maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring timely repayments, and driving business growth.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Conduct phone-based due diligence interviews with new and returning loan applicants
  • Perform financial analysis to assess borrowers’ business performance and repayment capacity
  • Develop and submit well-supported loan approval recommendations to the Credit Committee
  • Manage loan collections, ensuring timely payments and following escalation protocols for overdue accounts
  • Generate new business leads through referral calls
  • Support the product team by participating in experiments to enhance products and services
  • Respond to customer support inquiries via calls and WhatsApp, resolving or escalating issues appropriately
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor clients and support collection efforts
  • Maintain accurate and updated records in Numida’s CRM system
  • Uphold Numida’s professional and ethical standards while delivering excellent customer service
  • Stay informed about Numida’s financial products and services to provide accurate information to clients

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of customers attracted and retained
  • Total amount of loans disbursed
  • Loan repayment rates and collection efficiency
  • Portfolio quality (minimal write-offs or non-performing loans)

Qualifications, Education, and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Microfinance, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience as a credit officer or in a similar role
  • Strong proficiency with computers and mobile devices (Android apps, Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs)
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili (written and spoken); knowledge of other local languages is an advantage
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service with professional phone and chat etiquette
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate with data
  • Patient, empathetic, and skilled in client communication
  • Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute (preferred)
