About the Job

We need a careful and experienced Finance and Administration Officer to make sure that the VITAL-HMB project's finances are sound and that its administration runs smoothly. This job is very important for making sure that the project follows donor and university rules, managing project finances, and providing smooth administrative support to keep the project going.

Main Duties
  • Keep an eye on all project financial management to make sure that spending stays within the budget.
  • Make sure that financial reports are made and sent to the donor and project leaders on time.
  • Start payment requests, keep track of petty cash, and make sure that records are kept and accountability is maintained.
  • Make sure that everyone follows Busitema University and Wellcome Leap's rules concerning money and buying things.
  • Liaise with the university procurement team to arrange project logistics, shipping, and asset management.
  • Plan and set up project meetings, keeping track of decisions and action items.
  • Help the project team make travel plans and handle the logistics.
  • Help make and change the budget when needed.
  • Do monthly ledger reviews and stock-taking every so often to keep the project's inventory up to date.
  • Help make project plans and reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualification
Required: A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or a similar subject with accounting as a major.
A professional accounting qualification, like a CPA or ACCA, is required.
Required: At least two (2) years of relevant experience managing finances for a donor-funded project of a similar size.
Good: Having worked with Wellcome Leap or similar funders' reporting formats before.
Very good with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Great skills in communication, organizing, and getting along with others.
Can operate alone under pressure with a lot of accuracy and attention to detail.
